Mares Computers

Mares Computers offer all the performance needed by the most demanding divers plus many other innovative and proprietary Mares R & D solutions.

RGBM algorithm®

Dr Bruce Wienke, one of the leading authorities in the study of decompression theory, has collaborated with Mares in the most recent evolution of the RGBM® (Reduced Gradient Bubbles Model). This is the advanced algorithm that compensates for the possible existence of microbubbles in order to reduce their formation to the extent possible. The cutting-edge RGBM® Mares-Wienke algorithm is the most evolved on the market today because it reduces the formation of microbubbles without compromising dive times. It is the first to introduce Deep Stops – decompression stops at greater depths. The end result? Noticeably increased diving safety margins. For further information visit www.rgbm.mares.com.

Mares Regulators

The benchmark for underwater breathing systems. A quest for perfection, rewarded each year to millions of diving enthusiasts.

All metal technology

Mares is the only company in the world that offers a complete range of regulators with a metal second stage. The second stage is created using special high-strength brass that is nickel and chrome-plated for superior corrosion resistance. The metal second stages perform better in cold water thanks to their high thermal conductivity.

Ultra bi-component technology (patented)

The second stage body, moulded from high-strength technopolymers, is over-moulded with a special elastometer that is highly abrasion resistant and provides a unified attractive appearance to the component.

Ultra-light technopolymer technology

The exclusive high tech technopolymers used in regulators are exceptionally rugged and lightweight, providing maximum comfort during use.

SCS system – Spherical Core Seal system (patented)

The first stage valve features a spherical seal for greater duration and safety. The SCS system practically erases the danger of violent and uncontrolled free-flow caused by abnormal wear on the seal valve.

DFC – Dynamic Flow Control (patented)

Mares’ first stages feature the exclusive DFC system, which minimises intermediate pressure drop during the inhalation phase. The result? Considerably improved regulator performance – breathing is easier and there is less inhalation resistance. Thanks to this system, which guarantees improved and consistent intermediate pressure, simpler and more reliable second stages can be used for enhanced safety.

VAD – Vortex Assisted Design (patented)

All Mares second stages offer the unique, patented VAD system (Vortex Assisted Design). This system eases breathing at all depths and is unrivaled in today’s market.

The working principle is very simple: air coming from the hose passes through the second stage valve and is conveyed directly to the mouthpiece through the by-pass tube. There is a ‘vortex’ movement in the airflow inside the bypass tube. Whenever this swirl occurs, the core of the vortex creates a low pressure area. This low pressure helps keep the second stage diaphragm down while inhaling, thus increasing regulator sensitivity. Regulators with the VAD system offer improved performance and allow for very natural breathing.

Mesh-grid (patented)

The grill design optimises the flow of water around the second stage diaphragm, minimising the likelihood of free-flow. The calibrated holes allow a large amount of water to flow through, while at the same time reducing undesirable dynamic effects, even when swimming against a strong current.

Anatomical mouthpiece

The hypoallergenic silicone mouthpiece offers unparalleled comfort. It is designed to offer a safe seal with a minimum of jaw fatigue.

Mares BCDS

Mares research has reached a turning point in buoyancy control – constantly improving and refining it to make it safe and easy thanks to advanced technology, an ongoing search for revolutionary solutions, and maximum attention to detail.

Airtrim® (patented)

Airtrim® revolutionises and simplifies the search for optimal buoyancy underwater. It features a simple and ergonomic command for inflating and deflating the BC. Two oversized buttons, easy to operate and convenient, ensure simple and accurate buoyancy control. The absence of a corrugated tube makes the BC more hydrodynamic, enhancing its safety and comfort underwater.

Twin exhaust valve (patented)

Paired with Airtrim®, the ‘twin exhaust valve’ system ensures quick air release with one simple, instant manoeuvre, regardless of the diver’s position underwater. The integrated check valves prevent the entry of water through the pneumatic valves.

Ergo inflator

The compact, ergonomic inflator is completely reliable. One single unit offers power inflation, gradual deflation and quick air dump, oral inflation, power inflator hose coupling, and a corrugated hose attachment. The power inflator hose runs along the inner side of the corrugated hose and is held in place by a convenient retainer.

Cocoon concept (patented)

Thanks to this revolutionary system, the BC can be easily folded into a lightweight, compact ‘cocoon’, making it easy to transport.

MRS – Mechanical Release System (patented)

The most modern integrated weight release system. Simple, reliable and easy to use even underwater. The weight compartment, which can hold any type of weights, is mechanically connected to the BC and always readily accessible. The oversized release button is always available, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves.

Trim weights

The rear integrated weight system provides optimal distribution of weight and better buoyancy in the water.

QAS – Quick Adjust System

Thanks to this system, adjusting the cummerbund is simple, fast, and safe. QAS guarantees better adherence to the body, for improved comfort and stability.

BPS – Back Protection System

This neutrally-buoyant padding system has the superior ability to absorb blows far better than traditional protection pads. What’s more, the contoured cut and the special design of the seams ensures unparalleled adherence between the wetsuit and BC.

Upper exhaust valve

The quick dump and over-expansion relief valve, which is triggered using a control knob, provides greater safety.

3-D utility pockets

Three dimensional, high-capacity pockets with zip closure maintains a constant internal volume regardless of the inflation of the bag.

Materials

Cordura® 1000 denier
This material is recognised worldwide for its exceptional durability, abrasion resistance, and protection against cuts.

Condura® Duro Skin
This brand new material offers the resistance and long-term durability of Cordura®, but in a lighter, softer design, thus ensuring superior comfort.

840 denier nylon, 420 denier nylon
Highly resistant materials laminated in multiple layers to guarantee a perfect seal at the welds.

Stainless steel rings
AISI 304 stainless steel rings feature a bend to make it easier to attach carabiners during the dive.

An explanation of ‘buoyancy lift’

This important characteristic of the BCis measured using a special device. The jacket is mounted on a weighted tank suspended from a electronic scale, and submerged in a special pool. The difference between the weight of the system underwater with the jacket fully inflated and completely deflated provides the maximum floatation value or ‘buoyancy lift’.
